Mini Review of Girlfriend Collective

Active wear. It’s something we all have, we all use and we all need. It comes in all colors, designs and fabrics. They SHOULD come in ALL sizes, but let’s not get me started on that subject.

You can get active wear everywhere nowadays, but the quality, price, style and size range always vary from company to company. A company that ticks off of all of those boxes, and more, is Girlfriend Collective.

Girlfriend Collective is inclusive, ethical and sustainable. I mean, come on, how can you beat that? They carry sizes XXS to 6XL! Boom. And they use recycled materials to make all of their clothes, while also being super conscious about their impact on the environment. They are also dedicated to treating their employees with respect and dignity.

What’s not to like?

This company doesn’t do printed leggings, so sorry if that’s more your flavor. But, they do basics in a variety of colors and in amazing fabrics.

I am even more excited about Girlfriend Collective because they accepted me into their affiliate program! If you use my link to shop on their website, I get a commission on whatever you purchase. You don’t get a discount by using my link, but you do support me and my blog, which is so amazing and I appreciate every cent I make that way. I will, however, share on my social media accounts when they are having big sales.

Because I am working with this company, I want to share with you my thoughts on three pieces that I recently purchased from them so that you can feel confident in buying from them.

Item #1: High-Rise Pocket Legging in Midnight

28.5″ Inseam | Size XXXL | $78

I wanted to try out a pair of their leggings because everybody loves a good pair of workout leggings. Am I right?

These are very high-waisted, just like I like them, and hit me right at the ankle. (I am 5’7 for reference.) They are not see-through, so they are certifiably squat proof. I chose them in the color Midnight, which is a dark blue, because I don’t have any leggings this color. I can see myself paring these with just about any color top.

These come in several colors, some of which are considered “essentials” and some that will only be around for a limited time period, which are called “limited.”

The fabric is a blend of RPET or recycled polyester and spandex, so it has a standard legging feel. But, after one wear, I felt like they were holding their shape and not beginning to pill between the legs, which is a big issue for me with most leggings.

And, best of all, they have pockets! These are my first pair of leggings with pockets and I’m never looking back. Pockets for life.

I liked the sizing of the XXXL on me, but I could have gone down to a XXL if I wanted a tighter fit on the waist. Because of my body shape, things are usually loose in my waist and perfectly fitted in my legs. This was the case here.

Item #2: R&R Long Sleeve Tee in Moss

Size XXXL | $58

I bought this shirt because I wanted a top that I could wear for working out and lounging. I am happy to report that this top is perfect for both of those activities because it is so darn soft!

The seam detailing on the back is simple, but cute. And the color, oof. The color is my absolute favorite shade of green. It does, however, come in a bunch of other colors. It’s also slightly cropped, which pairs well with the high-waisted leggings.

I could have definitely sized down in this top, but I did not want a tight shirt, so the XXXL was just what I was looking for.

Item #3: Topanga Bra in Moon

Size XXXL | $38

Lastly, I purchased a sports bra, which is a tough item to find for any lady, no matter their chest size. Let me start off by saying that this bra is freakin’ soft. My boobs feel like they are being cupped by clouds and, honestly, that’s all I want if I in fact have to wear a bra.

The cut of the Topanga bra is flattering on my frame and I like that the crisscross straps take pressure off of my shoulders. This bra is more for low-impact activities, but provides enough coverage that you could totally wear it as a top.

I chose the neutral Moon shade because I thought it would, once again, go with all of my other workout gear.

The band at the bottom is a little tight, but at the same time rides up a bit. I do, however, think that it is the best fit for me. Going up or down a size would not work for me and my ladies.

Girlfriend Collective does other activewear items that look amazing, including joggers, bike shorts, puffer jackets and sweatshirts. They have also recently released fanny packs and backpacks.

Every order comes with a 100% recycled polyester pouch that seems like a perfect travel toiletry bag to me.

I will definitely be buying from Girlfriend Collective again soon and I hope you will consider supporting this brand, which is making a solid effort to do good in the fashion and activewear industry.

Update on March 4, 2022:

I am happy to report that I wear the long sleeve tee weekly and would recommend it to anyone. It has held up beautifully and I’d be lost without it.

The leggings are nice, but I don’t wear them often enough to have any differing thoughts than when I first purchased them. The sports bra is so cute, but the band was eventually too tight for my comfort. Sad day.
